EYE CAMP

On August 6, 2023, the Walkaroo Foundation and Aravind Eye Hospital worked together to hold a special event. They organized a Free Eye Check and Cataract Surgery Camp at PUPS in Malumichampatty. The camp ran from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM and helped people from around 37 villages. A team of 25 members from Aravind Eye Hospital joined the event. The camp gave free cataract surgeries to 70 people, and 146 others got expert advice on what spectacles they needed. Overall, 573 people benefited from the camp. It was successful because of the support of 135 Walkaroo volunteers and 90 dedicated volunteers who spread the word about the camp door-to-door.

INAUGURATION OF POLICE CLUB FOR BOYS & GIRLS

The inauguration of the police club was done by Balakrishnan V, IPS, Commissioner of police, Coimbatore city, a respected member of the police force. The police club serves as a platform for young people to develop skills related to the police force, such as physical fitness, teamwork, and leadership. Additionally, it may create opportunities for police officers to interact with young people and build positive relationships with them.

OORAKAM SCHOOL PROJECT

Walkaroo Foundation’s renovation of the school building in Oorkam, Malappuram, has breathed new life into the academic pursuits of the students, giving them a fresh start and renewed hope for the future.

LIBRARY AT GHSS, CHETTIPALAYAM, COIMBATORE

Walkaroo Group renovated and set up a library for the students of GHSS, Chettipalayam. Books and infrastructure required for the library was set up by Walkaroo group. Inauguration of the library was done by the renowned Tamil poet and writer and former Head of the Department of Tamil , Padma Shri Dr. Sirpy Balasubramaniam.

LIBRARY BEAUTIFICATION

The school library is an essential part of any educational institution, and it is crucial to provide students with a comfortable and welcoming space where they can read and learn. The employees of Walkaroo recognized the importance of creating such an environment, and they took it upon themselves to beautify the school library. The project involved several elements, including painting the walls, adding new furniture, organizing the books, and adding artwork. The employees worked hard to complete the project in a timely and efficient manner, and the results were impressive. The library was transformed into a bright and inviting space that was perfect for learning and studying. The students and teachers were delighted with the new look of the library, and they were grateful to the employees of Walkaroo for their hard work and dedication. This project was a testament to the commitment of Walkaroo to making a positive impact on the communities in which it operates.

VOLLEY FRIENDS PRACTICE WALL

Walkaroo Foundation is excited to announce the inauguration of a  Volleyball Practice Wall at Volley Friends Sports Center in Payambra, Kozhikode, Kerala, in June 2022. Led by Mr. Abdul Salam, Director of Walkaroo Group, this collaboration with Volley Friends Sports Center signifies a commitment to fostering excellence in Volleyball. Known as the Volleyball factory of Malabar, the center has a rich history of producing players at district, state, national, and international levels. Walkaroo Foundation is honored to support this center in various capacities, contributing to its legacy of sporting achievement. Together with Volley Friends Sports Center, we look forward to shaping the future of volleyball in Kerala and inspiring the next generation of players.

EYE CAMP

In March 2022, Walkaroo Foundation organized a free cataract surgery Eye Camp in partnership with Aravind Eye Hospital, Coimbatore. The objective of the camp was to provide free cataract surgery to the needy and underprivileged sections of the society who cannot afford quality eye care services. The collaboration between Walkaroo Foundation and Aravind Eye Hospital ensured that the patients received the best possible medical attention and care during the surgery. Such initiatives help in promoting awareness about eye health and in providing essential healthcare services to those who need it the most.

UYARVU PROJECT

Walkaroo Foundation, launched project Uyarvu with Sharanalayam an NGO with an aim to promote empowerment for the destitute women. This project provides infrastructure and hands-on training for the women at the Sharanalayam campus. As part of the initiative, the women were given vocational training on stitching cloth bags and to do screen printing. The project was inaugurated by Mr. Vasanth Ramkumar, District Differently Abled Welfare Officer, Coimbatore.
